The Mission

At RK Moonlight Stables, we pride ourselves in providing excellent care and top of the line facilities for your horse and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for riders of all disciplines. Owning and competing with horses is one of the most gratifying things our family has done. In turn, we want to provide a place that gives other horse owners the same satisfaction & opportunity for success in competition and pleasure riding that we, as a family, have experienced.

Our Story

The Fruits Family

The Fruits Family has lived in Gardner, KS for over 30 years. The love for horses began when Kim Fruits took her kids; Eric, Ryan and Amy, to ride the neighbor's horses. For the years following that the family was involved in 4H for several years showing in many different livestock events from rabbits and goats to cattle and horses. Horses always stuck with the family though and Kim's daughter, Amy, was lucky enough to show her Quarter horse gelding, Smoke, on the AQHA circuit and had the honor of showing at 3 AQHYA world shows. Kim has always had a desire to open a horse boarding facility and in the fall of 2011 that dream was obtained by the opening of RK Moonlight Stables.

The Facility

RK Moonlight Stables sits on just over 80 acres of prime farmland in Southern Johnson County which consists of soft rolling hills of brome grass. The stable consists of 3 total barns. The central stall barn is attached to the indoor riding arena while our famous red, round barn is used for our personal horses. On a tranquil trail ride across the property, riders will find three ponds scattered among open brome fields and pasture land accompanied by well-placed tree lines for natural wind blocks. Our family's residence is located onsite to provide added peace of mind to our clients and for their horses’ safekeeping 24/7.
